[In American accent]: This might be the most incredible day of my life. I’ve always wanted to come to Comic-Con in Hall H as Spiderman with all of you guys, it’s always been a dream of mine… [takes off mask] so thanks for having me.

You have no idea how much this means to me… I’ve always wanted to come here as a fan, and this is my first time, so here I am as a fan. I just wanted to say a couple of things - I’m Andrew Garfield, and I’m gonna be introducing this amazing Spiderman panel.

Stan Lee says that the reason why Spidey is so popular is because all of us can relate to him, and I agree. I needed Spidey in my life when I was a kid, and he gave me hope. In every comic I read, he was living out my and every skinny boy’s fantasy of being stronger, of being free of the body I was born into, and that swinging sensation of flight. And upon receiving his power, unlike most who have become corrupted, he used it for good. And I think that we all wish we had the courage to stick up for ourselves more, to stick up for a loved one more, or even a stranger you see being mistreated, and Peter Parker has inspired me to feel stronger. He made me, Andrew, braver. He reassured me that by doing the right thing, it’s worth it. It’s worth the struggle, it’s worth the pain, it’s worth even the tears, the bruises, and the blood, and I wouldn’t be able to stand here in front of you guys right now without feeling that Spiderman is here with me, with his reassuring hand on my shoulder making sure I don’t fall over and concuss myself.

He’s inspired countless people - all of us - and he’s saved lives, and he’s saved my life. This is the coolest moment of my life, and thank you for being here to share it with me.

I first met Carey Mulligan at a cast and crew dinner for Never Let Me Go, just before we started shooting. And, um, there was a point in the dinner where we were all going around the circle in the dinner table and asking each other what our favorite films were. We were all being very pretentious and naming our favorite Michael Haneke film or, you know, insert our house filmmaker here kind of thing, and I can see Carey on the other side of the table getting very nervous. Very red. And, um, it was coming closer to her. It was her turn, and she couldn’t control it; these words tumbled out of her. She said, ‘Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade’. And then I fell in love with her.

What a movie… Tonight I finally watched Boy A and wow did it really blew my mind. I really didn’t expect this, I thought it was going to be another good movie but it turned out to be more than that for me.

Not only Andrew’s performance, but also the music, the story and the way it was edited that catches you from minute one.

Wow I’m still in shock and I fear that feeling will not leave me very soon. So excuse me while I wallow in this feeling.
